The Sun sign is only one part of the picture: the Moon describes another layer of your emotional patterns, the Ascendant or Rising sign depends strongly on timing and location, and the houses show the areas of life where placements are expressed. Birth time and accuracy
Use your full birth date, including month, day, and year. Add your birth time as precisely as you can, including whether it was AM or PM, and select the place where you were born. The location helps determine coordinates and time-zone context. Accurate time is especially important for the Ascendant and houses because the eastern horizon changes throughout the day. It can also matter when the Moon or another planet is close to a sign boundary.
Without a birth time
If you do not know your birth time, you can still begin with the date and place, but treat the Rising sign and house positions as uncertain.
